A marking pen uses bright, esp. fluorescent coloured ink to mark written texts with a writing point consisting of fibres, felt or similar porous or capillary material. The writing point is formed as a split tip. The writing head may have a line-shaped end in the region of the centre of that end, or alternatively, the writing head may have a line-shaped end in the region of the centre of that end, or alternatively, the writing head may have a 'V' shaped indentation. Ink consumption is reduced by this arrangement.
