HV supply for DC excitation of gas laser - has secondary windings of three-phase transformer coupled to series connected rectifier circuits acting as voltage multipliers

The HV supply, for the d.c. excitation of a gas laser, has a polyphase transformer (12) each of whose secondary windings (12b) is connected to the input (13, 14) of a rectifier for voltage multiplication. The outputs of the rectifiers are connected in series with one another and coupled to the laser (10). The transformer is a 3-phase type and each rectifier circuit acts as a voltage doubler. Each secondary winding may consist of two separate windings the outputs of whose rectifier circuits are in series.
