A simple industrial robot consists of a rotatable turret (2) mounted on a baseplate (1). An arm (3) is formed by two parallel bars (5, 6) which are pivoted at one end to the turret (2) and at the other end to the holder (7) which carries the gripping mechanism (4). The arm (3) is actuated by a hydraulic or pneumatic jack (8) which is supplied by the pipes (11, 12). The gripping mechanism (4) is supplied with power by the pipe or cable (13). The arm movement is controlled from the console (10). This simple industrial robot is considerably cheaper than the many sophisticated types available but is adequate for its intended purpose of handling plastics mouldings.
