The scrap metal shear has a moving blade mounted on a reciprocating slide and working with a stationary one, these being preceded by a feed trough for the scrap. It has two parallel shear mechanisms alongside each other and with a common partition (20) between them and each with its feed trough (22). The two slides (12, 13) carrying the moving blades (14) are actuated by a double-armed lever (5) in bearings in the platform, and to which they are coupled by connecting rods (15). Hydraulic rams n8, 10) are coupled to the lever free ends, being connected alternately to a unit supplying fluid under pressure.
