Wire netting with two sizes of mesh - is made by using two staggered layers of netting of equal mesh size

A wire fence (1) is made from two lengths of wire netting with the same size of mesh (4, 5) but the lower length (3) is of reduced width. The narrow length (3) is placed over the lower part of the wide length (2) but the meshes are staggered such that the two lengths of netting combine to form a mesh which is only one quarter of the mesh of the separate lengths. The two lengths of netting are spot welded together at the wire junctions (6) to form a fence with reinforced lower section. This type of fence is useful for forestry plantations to keep out small animals. The principle can also be applied to hexagonal mesh wire netting.
