Heat recovery system for waste heat derivs. heat from gases or liquids and consists of two counter-current or quasi-countercurrent exchangers and a liquid pump. The liquid side heat exchange is connected to a heat pump cycle. The refrigerant in this is a mixture of two materials of different boiling points. At least one of these is present in the system in a gaseous state and hot all flows through the heat exchanger. In an evaporator section, some vapour is drawn out of soln. and is preheated before flowing to the compressor. Here it is recompressed and reunited with the auxiliary liquid. Used in recovery of heat from streams of high entropy and relatively low temp. -flue gas or liquid streams.
