摘要
Recording holograms in a photothermoplastic material involves giving the recording material a pattern is produced on the photoconductor, recharging the exposed areas and developing by heating near the temp. at which the medium reaches its plasticity point and cooling rapidly below this point, so that surface deformation occurs, proportional to the light intensity. The novelty is that the frost phenomenon is controlled by the use of a polymer with a definite mol. wt. distribution Mw/Mn, where Mn is the no. average mol. wt. and Mw and wt. average mol. wt. The system is suitable for real-time in-situ and image formation purposes and the frost phenomenon can be controlled easily and eliminated if necessary. Specifically, a 0.25-10 mu m thick monocomponent polymer is used, with Mw/Mn 1.2 for frost redn. Mw/Mn 1.08 for frost elimination. For thermoplastic xerographic holography using the frost phenomenon, a mixt. of polystyrenes, pref. of mol. wt. 900-40,000 is used.
