The sub-frame or linear (8) is generally of a square 'J' section (11, 13) with square stub returns (14, 12) internally and externally on short and long legs respectively, and is positioned to sheath the outer edges of the wall opening, the latter return (12) thus forming a vertical flange for the fixation of frames by screwing, nailing or welding. Fixation of liner to wall is by hook (16, 17, 18) bolt with slotted anchor plate (19, 21) fitting over the wall end and wedging the shorter return (14) of the 'J' section to the wall; a weather seal (15) is incorporated between this latter return and the wall and sill sections are angled as water-sheds.
