1489011 Dyeing compositions for cellulose CASSELLA FARBWERKE MAINKUR AG 11 April 1975 [13 April 1974] 14987/75 Heading D1B A dyestuff composition for dyeing cellulose in a single step without the use of a reducing agent comprises an uncured etherified aminoplast condensate, a pigment binder comprising a polymer derived from acrylamide, N- methylol or acrylamide, N-methylol-methacrylamide, or from an amide of formula: in which RSP1/SP RSP2/SP and RSP3/SP each represent hydrogen or an alkyl radical and one or more olefinically unsaturated comonomers, an acid catalyst and a water-soluble thiosulphate form of a sulphur dye or a salt thereof. The uncured etherified aminoplast condensate may be an etherified methylolated melamine wherein the degree of methylolation is at least 50% and the degree of etherification is at least 80%, or a mono-methylol urea and/or monomethylol thiourea whose methylol groups are etherified with methanol or ethanol to a degree of at least 80%. The pigment binder may contain from 10 to 20% by weight of one or more of said amides the balance comprising one or more of said olefinically unsaturated comonomers, preferred acidic catalysts being ammonium sulphate and ammonium chloride. Cellulose materials are dyed with the above compositions in aqueous media with heating e.g. at 140‹ to 185‹C.
