A pistol with a pulveriser head projects a flat jet of paint under hydrostatic pressure via a pulverisation slot, and two lateral symmetrical jets of compressed air converge on the paint jet. The air jets (36, 37) are aimed at the pulveriser head (13, 14) and at points slightly to the rear of the forward end of the pulverisation nozzle. As the air rebounds it is formed into two veils joining each other via the paint jet. The air jets can be aimed at a conical face coaxial to the paint jet, the cone angle being between 80 and 110 deg., while the air jets strike it 0.5 to 3mm behind the piant jet orifice.
