Simulator for crossbar telephone exchange - uses computer based testing circuits during installation of an exchange

This simulator, which is computer controlled, is intended to be used during the construction of a cross-bar type telephone exchange which may have interconnections for rotary exchanges or telex systems. The multiple units of the simulator such as the multiplexer sender preselector etc., link to the computer and other parts of the exchange. The computer operates in real time and, via the simulator circuits, gives rapid location of faults, eliminates almost all operator errors and can be used by relatively inexperienced personnel. The fault reports are revealed in a man/machine communication system. The use of the computer improves the simulator efficiency compared to manual or semi-automatic electromechanical systems.
