A bottle stopper has an inner cylindrical part (2) which is fitted on the neck of the bottle, and a cap (1) which fits over the part (2). The top of the part (2) has two segments (6) each covering about 90 deg. of the stopper. The two segments protrude above the part which is held captive inside the outer cap. The top of the cap has two grooves which match the segments. When the cap and part (2) are brought together they will rotate or lift off as one stopper.
