Water tube boiler with separate tube banks - has sloping tube plates and hollow centre for reducing low resistance

The water tube boiler has a hollow centre and upper and lower tube plates which are arranged at an angle to reduce hydraulic resistance to flow at the inlet and outlet of the heat exchanger. The arrangement ensures also uniform distribution of heat carrier between the tubes and a uniform temperature field over the tube bank cross section and it is used in nuclear power plant. The tube plates (3, 4) of the tube banks are arranged so that gaps are left between the adjacent tube plates for unrestricted axial flow of heat carrier into the space between tubes in the inlet and outlet section of the heat exchanger. Each part of the upper and lower tube plates (3, 4) has a corresponding inlet header (6) and outlet header (7) for supply of heat carrier into the heat exchanger tubes (5).
