Silver based alloy for dental amalgams - with gold partly replacing the silver

A dental amalgam is prepd. from an alloy in which Au replaces some of the Ag. A galvanic cell is not set up and the resulting upleasant sensations in the mouth are avoided. Suitably Au partly substitutes the Ag in the alloy contg. 73.15 wt. % Ag and 26.85 wt. % Sn. The alloy may have the compsn. (by wt./ (a) 69.49% Ag, 26.85% Sn, and 3.66% Au.
