The device transfers mandrels, with or without a pipe, which have diameters which can vary considerably from one another within a specific range, between the various processing stations of a machine for producing asbestos cement pipes, such as to shorten the dead times. It comprises a first pair of parallel cross members (15) which are endowed with reciprocating rectilinear motion on respective guides (18), each cross member being provided with aligned saddles (16 and 17) for supporting the mandrels (2) with or without a pipe (12), in order to transfer the latter between the forming station (B) which consists of the cylinder (6) and of the equipment which is mobile vertically (10), and an intermediate station (C) which consists of columns (22) provided at the top with a respective saddle support (23). The device also comprises a second pair of parallel cross members (30), which are aligned with, but do not interfere with the cross members (15) of the first pair, and are also provided with respective saddles (31 and 32), and endowed with reciprocating rectilinear motion on respective guides (33), in order to transfer the mandrels (2) with or without a pipe (12) between the said intermediate station (C) and a calendering station (D), which consists of a pair of rollers (24) and a superimposed roller (25), as well as of a station (E) for removing the pipes (12) from the mandrels, which consists of a saddle support (29) disposed on columns (28).
