The safety device is inserted into the stop light circuit of a car or motorcycle, and produces a blinking of the lights preceding their continuous illumination to attract attention. An oscillator (2) utilising gate circuits is energised by the closing of a switch operated by the brake pedal and in the stop light circuit. A time delay circuit (3) controls the duration of blinking and comprises RC elements (8, 7) following a trigger circuit of the gate circuit (6). An electronic or electromechanical switch (1) is controlled by the oscillator (2), and supplies the heavy current to the stop lights.
