Finger print identification system - uses comparison of characteristic points of print with known stored print

The finger print identification system compares the print with known prints stored in an index, for identifying the former. The parameters of characteristic points of the print are compared one at a time with those of the same points on the known print. The characteristic points are selected so as to lie along successive vectors, by using the point at the end of one vector as the origin for a second vector, or by deriving a number of angularly spaced vectors of the same length from the original vector. The system may also be used for identification of aerial photographs etc.
