Multiply supported rotor and shaft arrangements are balanced for inertia forces, for large power steam turbine driven generators. The balancing influence factor represents relationships between unit weight fastened on the balancing correction face and the vibrations. The correction face is selected and the residual vibration values depending on the inital vibration values and the balancing weight are minimised by the method of least squares. The weights are applied according to the calculated method for reducing shaft vibrations.
