The regulator system consists of a single lever able to select either neutral, forward or reverse drive in the engine slow slow running position and then give an engine speed variation as in 249538. The regulator lever (13) is now provided with an elongated opening or gate (41) which forms a slide path for the accelerator control peg. (40). The control peg also slides along a curved path (43) formed in the gear selector cam plate (15). The cam plate locks in position by means of a leaf spring (30) and locking units (31) after the gear, has been selected. A second guide groove (43') concentric to the first curved path (43) is provided diametrically opposite to the first path enabling the control lever to the fitted 180 degrees offset.
