The system for rapid propagation of the growth of root crops and grasses comprises a level bed of concrete on which is laid a feed layer for root growth. The roots are laid at uniform spacings. The cohesive layer may be expanded cement blocks or of thick woven material, with the grass roots propagating sideways, and the blades penetrating through an upper felt layer, in the form of a regular pattern. The system is of particular value in the development of sports fields. Moisture is supplied by means of capillary action within the cohesive layer.
