Machine for cleaning root crops - has belt conveying roots through compartments formed by cleaning bars and an upper retaining cover

The machine is used for cleaning root crops and comprises a fabricated frame (3) with sides (6) and equipped with an endless belt (1). The frame is inclined at an angle when used, the roots being loaded (4) at the lower end and discharged at the upper. The sides have support rods (8) above the belt at these ends. These carry strips (7) of rubberised sheet which form an upper retaining cover. This lies loosely over the central area (10) of the conveyor, its centre being supported on rollers (14). Transverse cleaning bars are spaced along the length of the frame forming compartments which control the cleaning action.
