The indexable cutting plate (1) for milling tools comprises two parallel, rectangular base surfaces (2, 3) with four lateral sides having two clearance zones (5, 7). The bottom zone (5) intersects the base to form a cutting edge (6) and is ground in a convex curve, the radius of curvature being about 3000 mm. The top zone (7) is plane and intersects the top surface to form a straight edge (8). The inclination of these zones to the vertical is 11 deg. at the top and 10 deg. at the bottom, the cutting place being used with a positive axial angle. The plates are mounted and secured in slots around the circumference of a milling tool.
