Sealing strip for rotor of rotary engine - uses leaf spring in bottom of groove to maintain contact with cylinder bore

The rotor of a rotary engine has a number of longitudinal grooves of rectangular cross-section equally spaced around its periphery. A sealing strip (11) with a rounded edge (11a) fits in the groove in the rotor on top of a leaf spring (12). The leaf spring (12) exerts an outward force on the strip (11) to maintain contact with the cylinder bore. The end face of the rotor is sealed by cylindrical plugs (13) with slots (13a) to receive the sealing strip (11) and is pressed against the end wall of the cylinder by the hairpin spring (14). A circumferential groove in the rotor end face is fitted with sealing segments (15) which are pressed against the end wall of the cylinder by compression springs (16).
