Recovery of heat energy from waste prods. at relatively low temps. is described, partic, from water and steam at temps. of 100 degrees C. The satd. water vapour at low temp. and pressure is compressed in several stages to produce a vapour at a much higher temp. and pressure which may be used for a variety of purposes. The water vapour at the start of the process may be at a temp. of 60-70 degrees C and a pressure of 0,2 to 0.33 bar. Its temp. may be raised by the process to 130-180 degrees C at 3-10 bars pressure. The installation provides for the recovery and storage of heat energy from waste materials. The installation may be used in conjunction with many industrial plants such as oil refineries, cement works, glass works or chemical plants.
