The heater has a heat exchanger (1), where a to be heated industrial water stream (B) and a counter flow of a heat dissipation medium flow through the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger has a pre-heating stage (2) and a post-heating stage (3), where the industrial water stream flows trough the pre-heating stage and the post-heating stage. Industrial water counter flows (G2, G3) flow through the stages independent of each other. A heat exchanging pipe has a transmission piece in a crossing section between the stages. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an industrial water supply system including an industrial water heater (2) a method for operating an industrial water heater.
