The present invention relates to antibiotic formulations. /P P According to the invention there is provided a novel beta -lactam antibiotic formulation as well as its method of preparation. This formulation comprises a beta-lactam antibiotic insoluble in water or hardly soluble in particulate form coated with a mixture comprising by weight 1 to 3 parts of lecithin and 0.2 to 1 part of polyvinylpyrrolidone per 100 parts of the beta antibiotic -lactam, the formulation having a particle size of 74 microns or less and being substantially free of sodium chloride. /P P The injectable antibiotic mixture allows combinations of a beta -lactam antibiotic and an aminoglycoside antibiotic to be administered in the form of single injectable compositions.
