A signal generator or synthesiser is able to provide simultaneous and, continuous trains of signals or periodic chains of predetermined frequency or transient signals. Each of the signals has a frequency which is preprogrammed. The synthesiser can also generate an envelope based on a given carrier, the rise and fall times and duration of the envelope being preselectable. The generator is particularly applicable to electronic organs and is based on the simultaneous generation of sinusoidal waveforms rather than square waves. The synthesiser can generate a tool of ninety-six sinewave trains simultaneously and can provide an output range of eight octaves.
