Electric relay with changeover contacts - has moving contacts at angle to fixed contacts to provide wiping action and prevent operation on welding of one contact

An electrical change-over relay has a construction which prevents operation of the moving contacts if welding occurs at any one contact. The relay has a set of flexible moving contacts (10). The moving contacts (10) provide change-over between a set of fixed contacts (5, 6). An articulated spring-restrained armature (8) actuates the moving contacts (10). The plane of the moving contacts (10) is inclined to the planes of the fixed contacts (5, 6). The moving contacts (10) have a displacement at an angle with the fixed contacts (5, 6). They (10) also have a self-wiping action. If welding occurs, the force in line with the length of the moving contacts is adequate to prevent movement of the armature (8) and also of the moving contacts (10).
