An animated picture device can provide direct viewing without projecting the pictures onto a screen. It does not use a special film and the drive does not fluctuate as in other viewing devices. The device has a drum (1) with a flange (5). It also has two reels (6, 7) with drive handles (9). A multiface mirror (4) rotates about the spindle of the transparent drum (1). The film (10) is taken off one of the reels (6) and wound onto the other reel (7) after passing around the drum (1) which is driven by the film itself. The spindle (4) of the drum is maintained vertical while the device is in use.
