The steam exhausted from a turbine is condensed in a coil submerged in a vessel of secondary water at a low pressure. The heat given up causes this water to boil and the secondary steam drives an auxiliary engine. The engine has a crankshaft connected by cranks to four flexible spheres. Each sphere is fixed at one point with a point diametrically opposite attached to the crank. When steam is admitted the sphere expands and when steam is discharged it contracts. This movement produces a rotation of the crank. The admission and release of steam are controlled by valves operated by a shaft from the crankshaft. The engine makes use of heat which would other wise be wasted.
