The reciprocation is produced by an eccentric 10 connected to the valve closure member by a linkage 11, 16. The size of the droplets is adjustable by changing the speed of the eccentric or by a screw connection 17 which alters the stroke of the closure member. The droplets are allowed to fall into a liquid which does not dissolve water.
