1503148 Sheet handling STRACHAN & HENSHAW Ltd 12 May 1975 [15 May 1974] 21621/74 Heading B8B In a sheeting machine a sheet support elevator (26), Fig. 1 (not shown), is vertically movable and a constant pile-level temporary support, e.g. forks 70, is movable independently of elevator (26) to catch sheets when the elevator with a full stack is removed. Support 70 has pressure control 96, 98 which allows downward movement with increased weight above a given threshold, and which returns the support 70 to its higher position after emptied elevator (26) is returned to receive, from below, the stack formed on support 70. A chain conveyer 56 moves link arm 66 to move support 70 into and out of position and a sloped arm 110 joined to support 70 engages pressure regulator 106 to increase the pressure with downward movement at a rate sufficient to match the sheet pile increase.
