1518598 Liquid dyes useful in ball-point pen inks E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 13 Sept 1976 [18 Sept 1975] 37780/76 Heading C4A A stable liquid dye which is useful in ball-point pen inks is prepared by reacting at 20 to 80‹C approximately stoichiometric amounts of a watersoluble cationic dye and a water-soluble anionic dye to form a water-insoluble cationic-anionic dye salt, there being present during or subsequent to the salt-forming reaction a two-phase liquid medium comprising an aqueous phase and a ballpoint pen ink solvent phase which is substantially insoluble in water and which is a solvent for the cationic-anionic dye salt and recovering the solvent phase containing the cationic-anionic dye salt.
