Thermally stable, rigid polyesters from aromatic dibasic acids and thermally stable, rigid diols

Rigid polyesters of the formula ##STR1## WHERE R and R.sup.1 are each arylene or substituted arylene and n is at least about 10 have a combination of being thermally stable and melt spinnable.
