LIGHTNING CURRENT AND LIGHTNING STROKE POSITION DETECTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To detect the lightning current and position simultaneously, by providing antennas to detect the vertical and horizontal electric field positions with respect to the ground of the space created by lightning discharge, and determining the field strengths. CONSTITUTION:The device consists of an electric field measuring device 1, an antenna 2 to measure the electric field vertical to the ground (vertical field), an antenna 3 to measure the electric field horizontal to the ground (horizontal field), and an antenna 4 to measure the horizontal field similarly to said antenna 3. The antennas 3 and 4 are disposed at an angle of 90 degrees to each other. The antenna 2 consists of parallel disposed conductor plates 2-1 and 2-3 to measure the electric field between these conductors. This electric field is inputted into an input section 1-1 of the electric field measuring device 1 through a conductor of 2-2, and is detected through an amplifier 1-2. The antennas 3 and 4 are constituted similarly as the antenna 2. Thus constituted, the lightning current and lightning stroke position may be detected easily.
