PURPOSE:To carry out effective desulfurization of hot iron by removing the S component in a hot iron desulfurizing agent as gaseous S cpds. and bringing the agent regenerated to a specific compsn. into contact with the hot iron. CONSTITUTION:The s component in a hot iron desulfurizing agent is revomed as gasseous S cpds. to regenerate the agent to the following compsn. by introducing a hot iron desulfurizing agent; the compsn. consists of, by wt., CaO;35-48%, SiO2=35%, Al2O3; 8-15%, MgO; 5-20%, T.Fe; 1-6%, and S=0.6%, satisfying (CaO+MgO)/SiO2=1.3. The regenerated agent is then brought into contact with hot iron to desulfurize it. The agent of the compsn. shows an extermely higher gasification desulfurization speed than that of a conventional one, and hence this method has been put to practical use.
