The push-button actuated overcurrent switch has a switching rod (7) with a lug (22), pointing away from the rod, having an annular groove for retention of one end of the OFF spring, the spring other end abutting the switch housing (1). The used bimetal strip (21) has ends (28) with short right angle bends. The bimetal strip is rigidly connected with a support (33) having a corresponding right-angled bend (29). The support has a perpendicular bend (31), pointing away from the bimetal strip, which is secured in the groove (32) of the housing. the bend of the bimetal strip is held between semi-circular lugs (34, 35) of the housing with a negligible free play.
