The undergarment has shoulder straps or short sleeves. In either case there is a central band of elastically knitted material, cut with curves rising at the front and falling at the back. This band is attached to the upper vest section and a lower skirt section both of which may be knitted with elastic thread. S strip forming part of the back of the lower section, is shaped suitably and can be drawn through to be attached at the front of the garment by hooks, buttons, 'Velcro' (RTM) etc., or it may be tied by a cord round the waist.
