Novel derivatives of 3-hydroxy- alpha -(1-aminoethyl)-benzyl alcohol, particularly ester derivatives of erythro or threo 3-hydroxy- alpha -(1-aminoethyl)-benzyl alcohol and the corresponding 3-ether and 3-ester derivatives thereof, are described. Processes for preparing such novel compounds are also described. The novel compounds are useful as antihypertensive agents and inhibitors of gastric secretion.
