[Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions having anti-inflammatory activity comprise, as active ingredient, (a) a 4-hydroxy-2-thiazoline derivative of the general formula: wherein RSP1/SP is a substituted or unsubstituted aryl radical (which may be a heteroaryl radical) or a cycloalkyl radical, RSP2/SP is a C 2-6 carboxyalkyl radical or an ester, nitrile or amide derivative thereof, RSP3/SP is a hydrogen atom, a C 1-6 alkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl radical (which may be a heteroaryl radical) and either the 4- or the 5-position contains the radical RSP2/SP, the remaining one of the 4- and 5-positions containing the radical RSP3/SP, or an acid addition salt thereof or (6) a thiazole derivative of the general formula: wherein RSP1/SP, RSP2/SP and RSP3/SP are as defined above; together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The compositions may be administered orally or parenterally in the form of tablets, capsules, solutions or suspensions.
