High gloss pigmented latex paints - made using an aq. dispersion of a pigment in a water miscible soln. of a neutralised alkyd resin in an organic solvent

The paints are made by mixing a pigment dispersion with a latex of an organic polymer. The pigment paste is made by dispersing a pigment in water using a water-miscible soln. of a completely or partially neutralised alkyd resin contg. =25 milliequivalents acid and =50 milliequivalents OH per 100g, in a predominantly organic solvent. The paints dry to finished with a good gloss and which have a reduced sensitivity to water, so that they can be cleaned eg with alkaline cleaning agents.
