A timber lift, especially for the forming of packets in packeting or piling machines, is arranged to be gradually lowered in connection with the forming of the timber packet. The finished timber packet is then moved away from the timber lift. According to the invention, a conveyor 16 is present between the outermost bearing members 12 of the timber lift 15. The chains of the conveyor 16 are joined together by means of bars 13 which are positioned transversely to the transport direction of the conveyor and on which the timber packet is formed. The displacement of the finished timber packet is then executed by means of the conveyor 16. IMAGE
