Vacuum degassing liq metals before casting - using electromagnetic pump and vacuum chamber, suitable for degassing aluminium alloys

Device for the vacuum treatment of molten metals, consisting of a vacuum chamber located above an electromagnetic pump used to pump the metal into the chamber via an inlet pipe and to remove the metal via an outlet. The novelty is that the electromagnetic pump is provided with a two-ring chamber, the oulet for the molten metal being connected under the central section. A pipe is pref. connected to the pump outlet for carrying the vacuum treated metal to a mould, the pipe being raised and lowered to control the amt. of metal supplied to the mould and a bush with a calibrated bore is pref. located in the pipe leading to the pump. Vacuum degassing of metals, e.g. Al and its alloys before the semi-continuous or continuous casting of ingots or the dosing of metal into die-casting dies or sand moulds.
