Uranium is recovered from aq. solns. such as extracts having a high U conc., which are by-prods. of U ore smelting, or seawater, lake-, river-, well- or ground water, by adsorption on a reaction prod. of a high polymer, which contains in the molecule an acid residue and an alcoholic OH residue, and a Ti cpd. Pref. the Ti content of the adsorber is 0.5-10 wt. % and the adsorber is in the form of a liquid dispersion, a powder, pellets, a film, fibre, or a fabric. Process is economical and does not require the use of acid. Environmental pollution is thereby eliminated.
