KURTZThe invention described herein was made in the courseof, or under, a contract with the Environmental ProtectionAgency.ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA cyclic process having reduced hydrocarbon emission isprovided for oxyhydrochlorination of ethylene to produce ethylenedichloride employing substantially pure oxygen as feed to theoxyhydrochlorination unit and recycling at a major portion of theresidual gas stream from which ethylene dichloride has beenrecovered as condensate, wherein reactant feed rates are adjustedto maintain recycle gas stream composition within specified limits.
