ABSTRACT:An apparatus is described for optically readinga record carrier. Deflection of the read ???? over therecord carrier can be achieved with the ??? of an as-sembly of a plano-concave and a plano-convex lens, theradiu??s of curvature of the curved surfaces of the len-ses being equal, and the distances between the curvedsurfaces being very small. The beam-deflection elementis compact, may be disposed near the read objective, andneed not ?eet stringent requirements as regards surfacequality.
