Abstract of the DisclosureA dissociant strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosawas inoculated in a fermenter and cultured at 37°C.A quantity of an autolyzing agent such as toluene orchloroform was added to the bacterial culture severalhours after the stationary state has been reached, sothat it could be autolyzed. A component (OEP) consist-ing mainly of protein, and a small amount of lipid andsugar was isolated from the culture filtrate and purifiedby physicochemical methods until it is homogeneous.Then, OEP thus obtained was processed by either pro-teolytic enzyme or reductant, or after the process byreductant further digested by proteolytic enzymes drivedfrom animal, plant and microorganism thereby preparingthe bacterial component of Pseudomonas aeruginosa,possessing extremely strong anti-tumor and interferoninducting activities. This component possesses a speci-fic preventive property against infection due to Pseumdomonas aeruginosa and non-specific protective propertyagainst infections by Pseudomonas aeruginosa as well asthe other bacterial strains. When immunized with thebacterial component of Pseudomonas aeruginosa men-tioned above, an excellent preventive activity againstvirus and invasion of tumor could be obtained, andthis bacterial component could also prevent infectionsby a certain serotype strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
