A bilirubin detector composed of absorbent and org. sulfonic acid or its salt with ferric salt was manufd. The absorbent was immersed into the soln. contg. 1-50% org. sulfonic acid or its salt and 1-50% org. or inorg. ferric salt at room temp. for 1 or more min and dried at room temp. or 80≦̸C. The detector turned green in the presence of 1mg/100ml bilirubin and turned blue in the presence of 0-50mg/100ml phenylpyruvic acid.
