The transportable room cell unit, or other prefabricated house, is mounted on individual foundation units each incorporating an adjustable protuberance to engage a cutout in the cell floor slab. Where the cell units are made from a filled metal frame, with bars interconnected by corner pieces (13) with side apertures the protuberance (28) engages a cutout in the area of each corner piece. - It incorporates a horizontal insertion aperture to hold a retainer bolt (42) passing through one of the apertures in the corner piece. The foundation units may comprise stacked concrete blocks with tongue and groove connections. This obviates any need for additional bearing elements and there is no damage to adjustable components.
