The individual antenna voltages of the direction finder undergo a phase delay and the voltages obtained via the phase delay devices are added together. The sum voltage is used as the direction-finding voltage. - The individual antenna voltages are simultaneously or subsequently subjected to a phase delay by the same angles, but with reversed signs. The voltages are then obtained are also added together. The direction-finding angle or bearing is found from the arithmetic mean of the two sum vectors. The phase relationship of the direction-finding voltage to that of a reference voltage determines the azimuth of the wave whose direction is to be fixed.
